City Airport Manchester

Aerial Photo of City Airport Manchester City Airport Manchester, formerly Barton Aerodrome, offers a variety of services to both organisations and individuals. The airport is in an excellent location; close to The Trafford Centre and just 5 miles from Manchester City Centre. By improving existing facilities and investing further Peel hopes to attract additional users to this airport.

First opened in the early 1900’s, the aerodrome is one of the oldest in the UK with many original buildings intact and still in use. Peel Airports is committed to retaining the historic features on the site and have already completed a £75,000 refurbishment of the listed control tower.

Peel Airports are planning additional investment to further promote the airfield for business and general aviation use.

The development of City Airport Manchester could potentially become an integral and complementary component in the build-up of Peel businesses in the Trafford area. It is situated at the heart of proposed developments such as the new Manchester Race Course, the Multi-Modal Transport Interchange (Port Salford), the Salford City Reds, various further initiatives in the Trafford area and is very close to the establishment of Media City in Salford. The airport is also situated virtually next to the M62 corridor, the main east / west train line and the Manchester Ship Canal.

The airport is closer to the city centre than Manchester Airport, and with the rise in executives using business jets and helicopters, it would provide a real opportunity to add value to the business community and local economy.

With the experience and expertise of Peel Airports, the successful integration and development of City Airport Manchester will be delivered in the most effective and efficient manner possible.
