Liverpool International Business Park
Liverpool International Business Park (LIBP) is a 100 hectare site located adjacent to Liverpool John Lennon
Airport. It is just a few miles away from the Port of Liverpool, Liverpool City Centre and close to the
motorway network. It is within the Speke Garston regeneration area of Liverpool and is a major part of The
Estuary which is identified as Phase One of the North West Regional Development Agency’s Strategic Site. LIBP
offered 310,000 square metres for development in 2001 of which 90% is now developed.
The Business Park is highly successful and is home to the likes of Littlewoods and Prinovis, and has attracted
investment from developers such as Gladman, Business Homes and Marshalls. The Business Park now employs
thousands of people from the local area and wider City Region in a diverse range of sectors.
LIBP delivers major opportunities within an area of substantial need and therefore satisfying a number of Peel’s
Ocean Gateway objectives. Strong partnerships were established including those with the NWDA, Speke, Garston
Development Company and local employment teams and there have been significant benefits arising to the local
community from the achievements to date.
Land adjacent to Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Peel has a further 60 acres of development land strategically located around the main entrance road to the Airport,
with planning permission for office, industrial distribution and mixed use consents secured with Liverpool City
Council.
These sites are all close to Liverpool John Lennon Airport and within the Speke Garston regeneration area. They are
suitable primarily for a range of employment uses and development is likely to include business units, a hotel, car
showrooms, and children’s nursery.
These sites have outline planning permission and detailed proposals are being progressed. The development programme
is expected to be phased over the next 5 to 10 years.
The success of LIBP has proved these sites will deliver major economic opportunities to an area of need in South
Liverpool, and thus meet a number of the Ocean Gateway objectives. These sites play a key role within the Peel
activities of the area.
