Seaforth Wind Farm

Seaforth Wind Farm comprises six turbines totalling 3.6 MW of capacity. The scheme has been operational since 1999 under a Non Fossil Fuel Obligation contract whereby the power is bought by the Non Fossil Purchasing Agency and sold on to power supply companies via an auction process.

The six turbines feature 52 metre high towers with 22 metre long blades giving a tip height of 74 metres and produce around 8.6 GWh of clean, green, renewable energy per year, equivalent to the power demand of approximately 1,800 homes.

Port of Liverpool Wind Farm

The Port of Liverpool Wind Farm is currently under construction. Once built it will comprise four turbines totalling 10 MW capacity. The power from the scheme will be bought by EON.

The turbines will feature 80 metre high towers with 45 metre long blades giving a tip height of 125 metres. Once operational in early 2009 they will produce approximately 26 GWh of clean, green, renewable energy per year, equivalent to the power demand of approximately 5,500 homes.

Together, the two wind farms will produce almost 35 GWh of renewable energy, enough to power approximately 4% of households in Liverpool.
