Port Warrington

Proposal to create Port Warrington This is an exiting new port prospect which represents an opportunity for Warrington as an area to actively benefit from the presence of the Manchester Ship Canal. The canal dissects the whole of the borough from east to west as a working port and a strategic inland waterway.

The current investment by Peel Ports secured the site at Moore, Warrington at a cost in excess of £11 million. The acquisition secured 37,000 square metres of existing distribution space with a further 5 hectares of potential development land. The key benefits of this investment are the existing under-used berth, the railway connection to the mainline and excellent communication links to the regions motorway network.

Increased port business can be accommodated to serve Warrington assisting in taking freight off the roads and reducing lorry movements. Other Peel Group landholdings in the area provide the further potential for a major multi-modal interchange.
